This is a grrrreat! album // the debut album from London-based Golden Silvers. It’s dance-y and groovy, but in a very classy way…an album for a dance-cocktail party. At times it has a retro feel to it, reminiscent of older/early decades of pop. Often it will slow down, ya know, for those slow dances. But then it will be boppin’ again. On either face, it’s enjoyable, head/hip-swaying at the least.

This band is BLOWIN’ UP. Wish they were smaller so I COULD FUKKEN SEE THEM. <3 their EP [[[CHUNK OF CHANGE]]], it was perfect all the way through. This is their first full-length. It stays true to the EP’s sound, with its youthful/blissful happiness…maybe even more so, w/ its peaches choruses. Sweet, sweet, synth-pop…juicy and joyous. It’s hard to be bummed listening to this…a kid on a playground in the sun // this album is gonna be perfect for the summer.

Multi-layered, folk pop, with some Japanese elements thrown in…it’s still very enjoyable despite the language barrier.

really sweet&joyous indie pop from finland, again. horns ‘n shit, they’ll prop that mood up, cuz sometimes you need crutches. i would describe it as if junior senior got rid of the funk, replaced it with a small orchestra and had just gotten off a binge of deep, meaningful flicks, and then maybe wanted to compose a soundtrack for a pretty indie movie. some tracks are a little sappy for me, and at times it can get crazyee and kaotic…but overall itll stop you from grumpin’, or at least somewhat alleviate a hard grump. U KNOW WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT.
they really know how to do it over there in finland.

AWESUM. I’ve had this album sitting in my iTunez for awhile now and I only just got around to listening to it and it’s soooo peaches // instant fav. alex…if that negalame april foolz joke is bringing you down, listen to this, srsly. it’s so sweet and unabashedly loving/joyous it’ll cheer anyone ^u^p^. tweeting (not 2.0, but the pre-net meaning) synths and bouncy beats…sounds like summer.

AWESOME. Got ivory pluckin’ strings jangling along, like the early 19th-century. A smokey bar, the man in the corner hammering on the keys, sirens cause the sky’s coming down on us. It’s music in black and white, like the way old movies are in black and white…classy and organic.

These guys from Scotland are great things. This is a really fun, peppy album - it’s real hoppin’. WARNING: it can get groovy at times. Really crunchy guitars and smooth bass, and I dig the guy’s voice. I think one of their songs got into a commercial (probs for a car, since car commercials are on the up w/ music… but i’m happy 4 them.) They’ve got a new album out that hasn’t quite struck me, but imma give it another chance cause I like this band.

This is Sweden’s The Sound of Arrows’ first EP (lotsa good music coming from that peninsula lately). I went in expecting some kind of electronic duo project thing (dunno why) and I was most pleasantly surprised! It’s more of that Swedish/indie pop I’m bingeing on again. It’s really pretty and big-sounding (ANTHEMIC!!) stuff. Only a few original tracks and the rest are remixes of the title track (most of which are pretty good, btw). It’s short so do yourself a favor and give it a listen. OR YOU’LL BE IN DANGER!

Never has an album’s content matched its title so well. If you dreamt beautiful dreams, and if those dreams got turned into a movie, and if that movie needed a really appropriate and good soundtrack, THIS WOULD BE IT! And if you don’t dream beautiful dreams, THIS WILL HELP YOU DO IT! I picked up a bit of a Death Cab for Cutie vibe (I’ve never really listened to DCC tho // I think it’s the guy’s voice…reminds me of B. Gibbs). It’s powerful and pretty and uplifting…very anthemic. In some parts it can get a little musical-y. Got night terrors? I hope not, but if you do, here’s treatment! Close yr eyes….& dream happy dreams (srsly, download this).

Sweet, sweet Scandinavian indie pop. A really diverse album - slow, gentle instrumentals and cheery sing-a-longs and upbeat handclap-laden dance-y bits. Strings and flutes and bells and the kind of vocals you could fall asleep to, but won’t because you want to hear more. Sitting on a grassy knoll in warm, breezy weather looking at the fjords of the north. You can hear them…waves and birds cradle the track, “Evil and I” — a gently rocking ship in a lake! For music from the snowy peaks of earth, it calls in the spring quite well. But I guess they have really pretty springs up there too.
